City Corp recommends Seal House for approval

The City of London Corporation has recommended Seal House for approval after considering Sellar Property Group’s revised plans for the redevelopment.

The Corporation will meet next Tuesday to decide the fate of the 200,000 sq ft office scheme on 1 Swan Lane, EC4, after which London mayor Boris Johnson will have 14 days to decide whether to give it the go-ahead, refuse it or call the application in.

The original plans were refused consent in April 2008 after committee members objected to its impact on the adjacent Fishmonger’s Hall and interference with the view from the Monument.

Sellar’s revised proposal is the same height as the refused scheme but has scaled back its bulk to lessen the impact on views.
