Birmingham council will reveal 50 major development opportunities throughout the city, aimed at stimulating a new wave of economic regeneration at the launch of the second phase of its Area Investment Prospectuses (AIPs) tomorrow.

Despite the worsening economic conditions, progress has since been made on 20 of those sites, generating more than £1bn of additional investment in the city.
Neville Summerfield, cabinet member for regeneration at Birmingham council, said: “We are determined to ensure that developers, investors, and other private sector organisations realise the significant scope for schemes outside the city core, where much development activity had been focused for the last 20 years.”
Summerfield said the second round of AIPs reflected the need for even better partnerships between public sector agencies, and the desire to strengthen the links between physical renaissance and economic regeneration.
