Savills reveals senior salary packages

Details of the salary packages for senior staff at Savills have been released in the company’s annual report.

Last month, Savills announced its bonus pool for 2008 had been halved after it suffered a 61% fall in profits.

The agent cut its bonus pool by 47% from £123m in 2007 to £59m last year.

Chief executive Jeremy Helsby earned £781,000 after his salary of £195,000 was topped up by a cash and deferred share bonus of £550,000.

This was half of his total £1.5m package received in 2007.

Savills said: “For the 2008 financial year, no bonus was paid to Jeremy Helsby in respect of group financial performance as this was below the threshold determined by the Remuneration Committee.

“The objectives-based bonus awarded to him reflects his success in taking over the role of group chief executive and in particular in taking early action to reshape the group and reduce its cost base significantly to position it for the challenging markets in which we are now operating.”

Head of commercial investments, Simon Hope, took home a £600,000 salary package, down from £1m in 2007.

Asian business head Robert McKellar received a total of £711,000, including a £475,000 bonus.

Head of surveying Rupert Sebag-Montefiore took home a total of £464,000, significantly lower than his £1.4m package in 2007.
