Glentree Estates has described squatting in The Bishops Avenue, in Hampstead, north London, as “becoming more organised and gentlemanly”.
The estate agent said it was “more like house-sitting” nowadays.
Squatters are currently living in a £3m property that was bought by a Nigerian couple eight years ago, according to The Daily Telegraph.
But The Times claimed yesterday that the same squatters had moved into steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal’s £40m gated home, Summer Palace, nearby.
The squatters own PREP Ltd, which stands for Protection and Revenue for Empty Properties.
The Independent says they move into properties and carry out any works or repairs deemed necessary and then bill for them whether the owners want the work done or not.
