The Homes and Communities Agency is to spend £98m delivering 1,862 affordable homes in Yorkshire and the Humber.
The regeneration agency said the allocation, announced today through the National Affordable Housing Programme, would provide 1,551 homes for rent and 311 low cost homeownership homes.
HCA regional director David Curtis said: “This is very positive news for the region. Through this process we are able to maintain momentum in the current market downturn and support housebuilders in preparing for economic recovery, whilst at the same time meet regional priorities agreed by the Regional Housing Board.”
The funding is split across the region and includes £11.7m for 222 homes in Humberside, £23.6m for 415 homes in North Yorkshire, £24.6m for 591 homes in South Yorkshire, and £30m for 634 homes in West Yorkshire and the Leeds City region.
Rural housing need is addressed within this with £17.5m investment representing 292 homes across Yorkshire and the Humber.
