The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has identified the construction sector as one of six it deems crucial in the effort to focus on low-carbon technologies in a report published today.
The employers’ organisation said the UK should focus on a few key low-carbon technologies where it has a chance of becoming a world leader.
The CBI is encouraged that the UK is home to the research and development centres of many international companies but the organisation said it was open to question whether this could be sustained in the face of increased investment by other competitors.
