The BBC has taken over the first of its three new buildings at MediaCity UK, in Salford.
The £500m canalside site is Europe’s biggest privately funded infrastructure development. Five departments will move in 2011.
Peel Holdings, which is building MediaCity, said the BBC would be a “springboard” for other investors to arrive from industries such as film and computer gaming. Salford University and 2ergo have already agreed to move in.
