Broadmoor hospital could be sold to developers and turned into luxury flats or a hotel.
The money raised would help pay for a new psychiatric hospital for male patients at a cost of about £288m.
West London Mental Health NHS Trust said the plans for the new hospital were currently with the Department of Health.
