GE confirms 100,000 sq ft move to the Ark

GE Capital Real Estate has confirmed that it will consolidate into the Ark, the Ralph Erskine-designed office building it owns in Hammersmith, W6.

The 100,000 sq ft letting was revealed by Estates Gazette last year (News, 14 December).

GE owns the building with Landid and O&H Properties. The last quoting rent was £45 per sq ft. It will move staff  based in its Berkeley Square, Berkeley Street and Agar Street offices

The move follows the decision by Open TV to sign a lease in July. GE will occupy around 100,000 sq ft, leaving 57,000 sq ft of a total 166,695 sq ft available to prospective tenants.

The building underwent a redevelopment in 2007, which increased lettable space by 31% and enabled it to be multi-let for the first time since it was built in 1992.

The Ark has lain empty for most of its 17 year history. It was completed in 1992 but did not secure an occupier until 1995, when conglomerate Seagram took a lease on it. However, by 2002, Seagram parent Vivendi had transferred the lease to subsidiary Centenary Holdings III. That firm was subsequently sold and then liquidated in 2005.

Jones Lang LaSalle and Knight Frank are letting agents; CB Richard Ellis advises GE.
