Reland has won planning consent to redevelop the RAF Little Rissington air force base, Gloucestershire, following a public inquiry.
The new development will bring 368 new homes and 98,000 sq ft of office and retail space to the 170-acre site, which has been used as a business park since the former MOD site was decommissioned in the 1990s.
A number of the buildings of architectural merit and will be retained as part of the development, including the former Officers’ Mess.

“Even though Cotswold district council and Gloucestershire county council sought to resist these proposals, we are delighted that the inspector – on behalf of the secretary of state – has recognised the benefits they can bring.
“Due to its location in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the number of protected trees and other constraints affecting the site, we have provided significant and detailed measures to ensure the character of the area will be improved.
