Pub landlords put Portman hotel up for sale

The flood of hotel properties being put up for sale continued this week with the marketing of the 272-bedroom Radisson Blu hotel on Portman Square, W1.

Gloucester Capital – a special vehicle set up to buy the hotel by Admiral Taverns owners the Rosenberg and Landesberg families – has instructed CB Richard Ellis Hotels to sell the four-star property.

It is expected to attract bids of more than £100m.

Gloucester Capital bought the building at 22 Portman Square in 2006 for around £85m.

The hotel, which is operated by Belgium-based Rezidor Hotel Group, joins a growing list of central London hotels that have come to market over recent months, including the Grosvenor House on Park Lane and the Cumberland on Marble Arch, both W1.

Around 76 years remain on the hotel’s lease. The freehold is held by the Portman Estate.

David Harper of Leisure Property Services said: “There are still people keen to get into London. Portman Square is prime London, so it will be desirable.”

CBRE Hotels declined to comment.
