Hugh Robertson set to replace Jowell as Olympics Minister?

Hugh Robertson, Tory MP for Faversham and Mid Kent, is set to take over from Tessa Jowell as the Olympics Minister for London 2012 in David Cameron’s new government.

An announcement on Robertson’s appointment to the high-profile role is expected later today. The 47-year-old former Major in the Life Guards is the Tory Party’s shadow spokesman on Sports and Olympics.

The Tory Party is widely expected to cede greater control of the Olympic Park Legacy Company to mayor of London Boris Johnson. It is currently owned 50:50 by central government and City Hall.
