Bridgeland gets go-ahead for green-focused business park

Bridgeland has won planning permission to build a 53 acre high-tech business park in Hessle, close to the Humber Bridge in Yorkshire.

The Bridgehead scheme will comprise 612,000 sq ft of offices, research & development space and high tech light manufacturing facilities.

The developer, a joint venture between The Wykeland Group and K B Properties, said it hoped to start work on site within the next 12 months having worked up plans for the site since 1997.

Wykeland managing director Dominic Gibbons said: “This is great news after 13 long years of hard work, patience and dedication from the team, on a scheme that we really believe will have a huge positive impact on the region.

“On a national level, employment trends are shifting towards more knowledge based companies, that demand high quality working environments and therefore we believe that the Bridgehead site will be perfectly poised to offer such businesses a home of national quality and significance.”

Dan Mitchell, partner at planning consultancy Barton Willmore, which advised the developer, said: “This is a key strategic site and is fundamental to East Riding’s employment land strategy.”
