A columnist in The Times lambasts electric gates used for gated communities in the wake two recent deaths of children trapped by such devices in Manchester and Bridgend, South Wales.
He says it is criminals, and only criminals, who should be behind bars.
The writer says developments should invite people in and make them feel comfortable “rather than sticking two fingers up at them”.
