Chelsea Barracks case settles – Christian Candy delivers apologies “unreservedly”

The dispute between Christian Candy’s CPC Group and Qatari Diar (QD) has been settled following an unreserved apology by Candy for the dispute.

In the High Court this morning before Vos J, the parties said that the litigation had been discontinued following a confidential settlement.

In a joint statement issued by the two sides, CPC and Candy & Candy confirmed that they will no longer have any interest in, or involvement with, the former Chelsea Barracks site.

On behalf of CPC, Candy apologised unreservedly to the Emir of Qatar, the prime minister of Qatar and Ghanim Al Saad, managing director of QD “for any offence caused by the decision to commence litigation against Qatari Diar and the allegations made by CPC during the course of proceedings”.

Candy also expressed regret at having brought the name of the Prince of Wales into a “contractual dispute” and “apologised unreservedly” for any offence that this may have caused.

Candy said that “he continued to have the utmost respect for Qatari Diar, as a worldwide real estate developer”.
