Housing minister Grant Shapps is to set out details today of a ‘freedom pass’ scheme which will allow social housing tenants to move home.
The programme is designed to allow tenants to register on a National Home Swap Database if they want to move home, without having to leave social housing.
Shapps is also due to announce details of a “right to move” scheme that would allow social tenants to force their landlord to sell their home and buy them an equivalent one elsewhere in the UK – this is going to be piloted in West London.
