BCSC 2010: LandSec secures two John Lewis ‘At Home’ stores

 

Land Securities has secured John Lewis ‘At Home’ format shops for two of its retail schemes in Exeter and Chester.

 

John Lewis will occupy a 67,000 sq ft shop, spread over five floors, at  1/11 Sidwell Street.

 

The store has been vacant since Land Securities’ Princesshay shopping centre opened in 2007.

 

In Chester, the department store retailer will open a 60,000 sq ft store over two floors at Land Securities’ Greyhound retail park in Sealand Road .

 

It will be the first John Lewis at home shop in the north of England.

 

Both new stores will open in autumn 2011.

 

Richard Akers, managing director for retail at Land Securities, said: “We are pleased to build on the success of John Lewis at home in Poole, which opened last year.

 

“It has been a real success for the retail park bringing more customers and boosting the trade of the other retailers. getting those new stores underway has been a team effort with John Lewis and when they open they will significantly enhance the retail offer and create new jobs.”
 

Andy Street , managing director of John Lewis, said: “We are pleased to be opening our next two John Lewis at home shops with Land Securities at Greyhound retail park, Chester, and Exeter city centre.

 

“These shops are our fifth and sixth at home shops and we look forward to working closely with Land Securities to enhance the shopping offer in both cities.”
