Peel Holdings subsidiary Peel Media has agreed a new 10-year agreement with the BBC to deliver an enhanced range of production and technical services when the broadcaster opens its new northern base next year at MediaCityUK at Salford Quays in Greater Manchester.

The services will be provided through a joint venture between Peel Media and live broadcast facilities provider Satellite Information Services, which was also agreed today.

The partnership with SIS will see the formation of a new company to run the studios, post-production, content and technical services at MediaCityUK.

Bryan Gray, chairman of Peel Media, said: “We are delighted to have reached agreement with the BBC and SIS on the provision of a wider range of services at MediaCityUK. Our studios will be up and running from January and we look forward to creating a radical new environment for leading companies, such as the BBC, to share in the benefits.”

Richard Deverell, chief operating officer at BBC North, said: “This new agreement with Peel Media will help ensure that BBC North becomes a leading innovator in digital media and content production in the UK.”
