Scottish BPF warns of supermarket business rates hike

 


Scotland’s property industry has warned Holyrood that raising business rates on supermarkets by up to 35% risks “killing the goose that laid the golden egg”.


 


John Swinney, Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, wants to raise the rates to cover funding shortfalls for Scottish councils.
