Few property honours in Queen’s list

Just a handful property professionals from the private sector picked up awards in the Queen’s New Year Honours list.

Leading the list of property figures was founder and chairman of Manchester-based developer Bruntwood, Michael Oglesby, who received a CBE for his services to business and charity in the North West.

Other notable awards included friends Gavin Booth, from GE Real Estate, and Adam Wilton, who works in Barclays’ structured debt team.

Both received MBEs for services to the UK Antartic Heritage Trust. The pair walked to the South Pole in December 2009, raising money and awareness of the trust.

The remainder of honours for members of the property industry went to local and central government officials.

They included Robert Napier, chairman of the Homes and Communities Agency, who received a CBE for public service; and Katrine Sporle, chief executive of the planning inspectorate at the department for Communities and Local Government, who also received a CBE.
