Parkridge Developments and Tesco have been given the final go-ahead to build a 35,000 sq ft store in Coalville, Leicestershire.
The consent comes almost one-and-a-half years after the plans were given outline planning permission by North West Leicestershire district council. The decision on the plans – originally submitted in 2009 – was delayed twice, in April and July of 2009, while the council considered bids from rivals Asda and Sainsbury’s.
The development is on an old factory and showroom site next to the council offices and will incorporate a Tesco, plus ancillary shops and 20 flats.
