Clarke calls time on squatters’ rights

Kenneth Clarke has vowed to end the days of “squatters’ rights” and has made the issue a priority, a senior Whitehall source as told The Daily Telegraph.

The justice secretary plans to make squatting a criminal offence, punishable with prison. Squatter are protected by laws including the Criminal Law Act 1977 which prevents homeowners forcing their way back into their property.
