Ryegate gets revamp

A dedicated centre for children with disabilities in Sheffield has been given a facelift thanks to a team fielded by South Yorkshire-based retail developer Dransfield Properties.

Managing director Mark Dransfield led a 20-strong team of friends, family and colleagues, who donated their time and skills to give the Ryegate Children’s Centre in Broomhill a Changing Rooms-style makeover.

It followed a 326-mile cycle ride from Marseilles in France to Portofino in Italy, which Dransfield and a team of fellow cyclists undertook to raise money for The Children’s Hospital Charity, which supports the work of the centre. The team raised nearly £50,000 – £15,574 of which went to help refurbish the Ryegate centre.

But the team did not to stop there. During a visit to the centre, they were so moved by the patients and families they met that they decided to offer to help complete the refurbishment.

“I have been overwhelmed by how generous people have been with their time and money,” said Dransfield. “The team’s commitment was incredible.”
