Housebuilder Galliford Try and affordable housing provider Home Group have been appointed preferred bidder on the £347m Gateshead regeneration scheme.
The scheme, one of the UK’s largest residential regeneration programmes, aims to build 2,400 homes together with community facilities across 19 sites in Gateshead.
Galliford Try and Home Group’s joint venture, called Evolution Gateshead, will form a regeneration partnership with Gateshead council to build the project.
Work is due to start following financial close later this year with the development programme phased to complete by 2026.
