TPI reignites Von Essen interest

Tosca Penta Investment looks poised to resurrect its interest in Von Essen Hotels following the group’s collapse into administration.

The City fund manager broke off talks in February to buy a stake in the country house hotel operator. It is believed to be among several private equity firms, high net-worth individuals and sovereign wealth funds eyeing the business. They are thought to include Robert Breare, who once ran the company behind Malmaison Hotels. Orient-Express Hotels is thought to be interested in cherry-picking. Former owners of individual hotels are also said to be looking at buying them back.
