Nicholas King, principal with Baltimore-based Paragon Outlet Partners says the US’s outlet sector has thrived, even in the down turn. King, formerly chief operating officer of Prime Outlets, which sold its 22 centres to Simon Property Group for $2.33bn in 2009, currently has three schemes: Orlando, Florida, which is open. The other two in Livermore Valley, California, and Grand Prairie, Dallas,Texas, are scheduled to open next year. Pushing ahead with the developments proves how successful the outlet market has been, believes King. “The outlet business was very resilient because people are always looking for value, and there are now a lot of people looking to get into the outlet market because of that. Also, the tenanted community is really looking for outlet opportunities.” Click here to Listen to the EG interview with King or visit the Estates Gazette channel on iTunes.
