Unison has warned the entire care homes sector is on the “brink of collapse”.
Paul Burstow, health minister, told the Commons the immediate focus would remain on keeping Southern Cross in business. Labour leader Ed Miliband called on the government to consider extending the regulation of the sector to cover the financial stability of care providers.
