Crown hungry for Whole Foods in Quadrant

The Crown Estate is in talks to bring organic food retailer Whole Foods Market to its £750m Quadrant mixed-use redevelopment just off Regent Street, W1.

Whole Foods is understood to be in discussions to take around 10,000 sq ft in the scheme on Glasshouse Street, W1, which is to be pedestrianised.

The redevelopment will comprise an 180,000 sq ft office element, 60,000 sq ft of shops and restaurants, and a further block comprising 15,000 sq ft of offices and nine flats.

The Quadrant scheme also includes the Café Royal, which is being restored as a 160-bedroom luxury hotel, the art deco Atlantic Bar & Grill and the Titanic Restaurant.

Whole Foods recently confirmed that it is opening new stores in Fulham Broadway, W6, and Richmond in Surrey.

It also has stores in Giffnock in Scotland; Camden, NW1; Clapham Junction, SW11; Kensington High Street, W8; Brewer Street, W1; and Stoke Newington, N16.

CB Richard Ellis is advising The Crown Estate; Curson Sowerby Partners and Gilbert Bath act for Whole Foods.

All parties declined to comment.
