Capital Shopping Centres has been granted planning permission for its MetrOasis development in Gateshead.
MetrOasis will create almost 15,000 sq ft of restaurants and will sit between CSC’s Metrocentre and the adjacent retail park. The redevelopment of the former Esso petrol station is already 75% under offer.
Work is expected to begin onsite in November with completion due for autumn 2012.
Martin Ellis, construction director for CSC, said: “The development will strengthen the catering offer as well as improve pedestrian links between Metrocentre and Metro Retail Park and is a key part of our continued evolution of the centre.”
