London mayor Boris Johnson has submitted plans for two more enterprise zones to the government.
If approved, the zones, in Croydon and the Lea Valley, would join one of the country’s largest zones in the Royal Docks, east London.
The plan for the Upper Lea Valley covers 2,470 acres across three boroughs – Enfield, Waltham Forest and Haringey. The zone would encompass four town centres and a water development in Enfield. The three councils are backing the proposals and have outlined 729 acres that would benefit from business rate relief.
The Croydon proposal, also with the support of the council, includes industrial sites and part of the town centre.
The London boroughs and the mayor formed a London-wide local enterprise partnership in February.
