Newns replaces Robinson at MIDAS

Angie Robinson has quit as chief executive of Greater Manchester’s inward investment agency, MIDAS, after just over a year in the job to become chief executive of the Manchester Central Exhibition Complex.

Tim Newns, Robinson’s deputy, will become MIDAS’s chief executive.

Robinson joined MIDAS in May 2010 from the Greater Manchester Chamber to replace Colin Sinclair, who left MIDAS to join developer Bruntwood.

Robinson said: “It has been a particularly challenging period and, despite some difficult circumstances, MIDAS is an organisation which continues to deliver an exceptional service.”

Michael Oglesby, chairman of MIDAS, said: “Angie has successfully overseen MIDAS through a challenging period ,and we are extremely thankful for her hard work and leadership. We are, of course, saddened to see her leave, but wish her the very best in her new role at Manchester Central, which will see her continued close involvement in the delivery of Manchester’s future success.”
