McDonalds has revealed today that it will open four restaurants in the London 2012 Olympic Park, including the world’s biggest-ever McDonalds.

During the 29 days of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, McDonald’s will serve more than 1.75m meals at its four restaurants, two for the public, one in the media centre and one in the athletes’ village, which will be free for athletes and open 24/7.

The largest of the four, which will be for spectators, will be 32,000 sq ft and spread over two floors with four kitchens and seating for more than 1,500 customers.

Work will begin on building the largest restaurant in October.

Around 1,800 staff will be selected from the McDonald’s 85,000-strong UK workforce, with a further 200 from around the world, to work at the restaurants and visit the Games.

All four restaurants will be pulled down after the Games with materials and equipment recycled into existing McDonalds stores.

Jill McDonald, chief executive of McDonald’s UK said: “We want everyone who visits our Olympic Park restaurants to have the best possible customer experience and are confident that the look and feel of these cutting-edge designs will provide that environment.”
