Tesco submits plans for Wakefield store

Tesco is submitting plans for a 110,760 sq ft store on a former Sainsbury’s site in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

Proposals for the facility, which includes 48,860 sq ft of retail floorspace, will be submitted to Wakefield council and local residents for consultation.

The retailer said it hopes to occupy the store at Ings Road Retail Park within the next two years.

The site landlord has been looking for an occupier after Sainsbury’s exited the building earlier this year.

Tim Price, associate director at Savills Commercial Planning, is advising on the proposal.
