Lloyds Banking Group has put a 13-acre former Scottish & Newcastle brewery site up for sale.
The land in Edinburgh city centre, called Fountain Quay, is near to Princes Street and Haymarket train station. It was once home to Scottish & Newcastle’s Fountain Brewery.
Sources suggest the land is likely to fetch around £15m.
Planning permission has been granted by City of Edinburgh council for a mixed-use development, including retail, residential, hotel and student accommodation.
Lloyds has already agreed to sell 2 acres of the site to Napier University, and as part of the first phase of the development, a park will be constructed in the site’s centre.
CB Richard Ellis has been instructed by Lloyds to market the land.
Stewart Taylor, director of CBRE’s business space, said: “This is one of the largest city centre brownfield sites in Edinburgh. With the flexible consent in place, it offers developers the opportunity to deliver a truly mixed-use scheme, minutes from established prime commercial and residential districts.”
