Blackpool council has launched a search for a developer for a £50m housing scheme.
The council is seeking a partner for a 7.7ha site on Rigby Road where it hopes to develop a 400-home scheme. The majority of the site is owned by the council.
The chosen developer will be expected to produce a viable masterplan for the whole site over the development period, which could extend to 10 years, and then make an early start on a first phase of delivery.
Councillor Simon Blackburn, leader of Blackpool council, said: “This site offers a unique opportunity to deliver the second strand of our vision – new, high-quality private sector housing, utilising the highest standards of design to create a distinctive neighbourhood.”
Blackpool council hopes to have a developer on site by 2012.
