Farrells has been appointed to help produce a masterplan for the University of Leicester as part of its £1bn development framework plan.
Farrells will conduct a college-by-college space and usage analysis of the university’s Leicester campus, and come up with proposals for new forms of accommodation and how to cater for expected higher student numbers.
Engineering firm Buro Happold will analyse the environmental performance and regulatory compliance of the existing building stock.
In 2008 the University of Leicester announced its £1bn development framework plan. To date £52m has been invested in the campus, including towards maintenance of the estate.
Paul Goffin, the university’s director of estates, said: “This masterplan will detail future developments that will enhance the University’s academic and social spaces in order to optimise the use of the campus for the benefit of staff, students and visitors.”
Farrells will deliver the masterplan in late summer.
