East Anglian agents merge

East Anglian surveyors Maxey & Son and Grounds & Co have announced plans to merge as Maxey Grounds & Co from 1 October.

Grounds & Co was formed in 1792 and Maxey & Son in 1856. The new business will see the existing Grounds & Co partners, Freddie Grounds and Geoffrey Brinton, join up with Maxey & Son partners Richard Allen, John Maxey and Simon Hickling. John Maxey will lead the management of the new business.

The firm will offer services to residential, commercial, agricultural and development clients and will operate from offices in the Cambridgeshire towns of Wisbech, March and Chatteris, as well as its auction hall in Wisbech.

Freddie Grounds said: “With roots very much in the Fens for many years, the two firms are both fiercely independent, and the expertise and standard of service we can offer to our clients, as principals controlling our own business, is very important to us all. The two businesses have similar but complementary strengths which made the merger a natural move to strengthen our position as one of the leading property advisors in the region.”

John Maxey said: “The exceptional team formed by merging the experience and local knowledge of both firms partners and staff will, I am confident, make the new business a major force in the property profession in Fenland and the surrounding area.”
