A recording studio and hotel complex in Liverpool city centre, which has been used by Coldplay, Take That and Barry Manilow, has been placed onto the market for £2.5m.
Mason Owen is seeking a buyer for the Parr Street Studios and Hotel, which was built in the 1930s and has also been used by acts including the Spice Girls, Echo & the Bunnymen, Paolo Nutini and Elbow.
Local businessmen Gary Millar and Steve Macfarlane, along with musician Thomas Lang, bought the facility in 2006 to save it from closure. The trio have subsequently refurbished the property.
The site houses two Grammy award-winning recording studios, two bars, offices, a 12-bedroom hotel and a second hotel featuring six mini-bedrooms called PodZzz.
Andrew Owen, head of business space at Mason Owen, said: “With an exceptional pedigree, this iconic recording studio was once owned by Genesis and has become one of Liverpool’s most well-loved creative buildings.
“This is a unique offering as the freehold, Parr Street Studio’s immense goodwill, its car park, tenancies and growing business in the heart of the city are all included in the sale.”
Steve Macfarlane said: “It was part of our ambitious five-year plan and exit strategy to save and successfully turn around the business. We are so proud of what we have done, but recognise it’s now time for someone else to take Parr Street to the next level.”
