Social housing regeneration specialist Forrest has been awarded a multi-million pound scheme to fit almost 3,000 of Wrexham Council’s social houses with solar photovoltaic panels.
The project, which is worth £18m, aims to cut residents’ energy bills by up to £200 pa, and form a key part of the council’s wider carbon reduction strategy. The panels, supplied by local manufacturer Sharp Solar, will be retrofitted on housing stock later this year. The project is due for completion by March.
Lee McCarren, chief executive of Forrest, said: “This is a truly landmark project, and we’re looking forward to delivering one of the UK’s largest-ever social housing solar PV projects.”
