Haringey begins Tottenham rebuild

Haringey council has appointed a programme director to lead the Tottenham Regeneration Programme.

Anne Lippitt will be responsible for promoting the north London area to property and retail investors, and spending £10m from mayor of London Boris Johnson’s London Enterprise Fund which was pledged for Tottenham after the riots in August.

Alan Strickland, Haringey cabinet member for economic development and social inclusion, said: “Her appointment underlines the council’s commitment to rebuilding Tottenham and delivering effective and lasting change for the better following the riots.”

The programme director’s role is jointly funded by the council and the mayor.

Meanwhile, Estates Gazette is working with UK Regeneration in recruiting a commission of experts to draw up specific plans as part of its Building a Better Britain campaign.
