De Montfort university has been granted planning permission for 150 homes on its former campus sports field.
The homes will sit on 17 acres east of Beeby Lane, Scraptoft, Leicestershire, and part of the grounds will also be preserved for recreational use.
The approval comes after initial proposals in March for 215 homes were rejected by Harborough district council, because the volume was deemed to be too high.
Consultancy firm RPS advised on planning.
