ING’s Dalton Park avoids call in

ING Real Estate has cleared another planning hurdle for a £24m development at Dalton Park in County Durham.

The secretary of state has decided not to call in the application for phase two of the shopping outlet for his own determination.

It follows Durham county council’s planning committee’s decision to approve the application in June.

Phase two proposals in the Easington coalfields area include a 91,000 sq ft foodstore, a 22,000 sq ft cinema, a 90-bedroom hotel, 22,000 sq ft of shops and bars, a drive-through restaurant and a pub.

The development will complete Dalton Park.

David Alker from ING said: “We now hope to be able to secure the planning permission in line with the original local decision, marking a very a positive example of how localism can work to secure investment where it is needed and wanted.”

Indigo Planning acted as planning consultants.
