Legal & General Property changes management team

Legal & General Property has promoted Michael Barrie to director of fund management to replace Helen Gordon, as it restructures its senior management team.

Other changes include the promotion of Nigel Fuller to senior fund manager of the Life Fund, Gordon Aitchison to director of transactions and development, and Charlie Walker to director of business development.

A statement from L&G said the restructure “supports the ongoing growth of its business and further aligns the strength of its in-house platform with its investment objectives”.

Barrie will now oversee all the balanced funds, following Gordon’s departure to Royal Bank of Scotland, in a move to “economies of scale through access to shared teams and in-house resources”, said L&G.

The firm’s dedicated fund management reporting structure will be retained.

Fuller, who has been with the company for 14 years, will report directly to Barrie as senior fund manager of the Life Fund.

Aitchison has taken over responsibility for the development team, allowing greater integration between the investment activities of the fund platform and its development pipeline.

After his appointment to L&G’s board earlier this year, Walker’s new role will see him head LGP’s client-led product development.

Managing director Bill Hughes (pictured) said: “Following a period of significant growth and the strategic strengthening of LGP’s in-house resources, we believe the careful realignment of our platform will help to consolidate our strengths and continue to embed a model that has demonstrated the scope to deliver outperformance across the business.

“We look forward to building on this successful model and feel well positioned to continue to capitalise on a range of market opportunities.”
