Galliford Try sales jump 38%

Housebuilder Galliford Try has recorded a 38% jump in sales to £430m.

Sales reserved, contracted or completed rose to £430m between 1 July to 10 November, from £312m in the same period in 2010.

A total of 82 properties were sold, compared to 59 last year, equivalent to 0.5 sales per week.

By June 2012, the company expects to sell around 100 sites.

The company said mortgage availability easing had encouraged business. It said it had also secured access to a 95% loan scheme for a number of purchasers.

Greg Fitzgerald, Galliford’s chief executive, said: “Although the economic outlook remains uncertain, we have been encouraged by the performance of our housebuilding business.”
