The site of the BBC’s famous Pebble Mill studios could be the new home for an NHS dental hospital and school.
Worcestershire-based architect One Creative Environments on behalf of BaS Lift and Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust hope to breathe new life into the site, which has lain vacant since the BBC moved to The Mailbox in 2004.
Plans include a 172,222 sq ft dental hospital which would replace the current NHS facility in the city centre, and a school of dentistry. Over 1,100 staff and students could be accommodated on the site.
Birmingham council planning officers have recommended the project for approval. The proposals will go before councillors on 17 November.
