MAPIC: Conference mood dictated by market results

With just one day to go before MAPIC kicks off, Borja Sierra, Savills chief executive for Continental Europe, expects the conference mood will be largely dictated by market results, and the ongoing trouble with the Euro.

He said: “MAPIC should tell us what is the sentiment [of the market] both from retailers who will be approaching their Q4 trading numbers, which obviously are their most important for the year, and also from the capital side on what is the current investor interest.”

Sierra added that 2011 was a year of two halves. It started positively on the back of good results at the end of 2010, but the European issues in May / June resulted in a slow down of activity.
