L&C eyes Pitsea redevelopment

London & Cambridge Properties has unveiled a proposal for the £30m redevelopment of Pitsea town centre in Essex.

The initial plans include a 73,000 sq ft Morrison’s supermarket, a revamped 50-stall market as well as 34,500 sq ft of new shops and the renovation of the Pembroke House office block.

Basildon borough council leader, councillor Tony Ball, said: “Pitsea town centre is in desperate need of investment and we have been committed to its regeneration for a number of years.

“Although the economic climate is tough, we cannot stand still or the town centre will decline further, so we must encourage private schemes such as this.

“This sort of investment would not only improve Pitsea, but would also create new jobs and opportunities for local people.”
