The BBC has drafted in the head of BBC Workplace, Chris Kane, to help to secure the sale of Television Centre in White City, W12.
He will work alongside Richard Deverell, who was appointed to lead the sale of the site in April.
The corporation sent a letter outlining the move to the parties shortlisted for the development opportunity, which include Stanhope, Muse Developments, Chelsfield Partners, Lend Lease and a Kier-led consortium.
It said the change in role for Kane was part of its commitment “to deliver significant savings from the property sale”.
The letter added: “Selling this iconic building is a large undertaking. Kane’s move will ensure the best outcome for the BBC.”
Lucy Adams, director of business operations at BBC Workplace, will take over Kane’s role in the interim.
The TV Centre sales team are now reporting to a new steering group, chaired by Caroline Thompson, chief operating officer at the BBC.
