Clean-up plans and up to 600 new homes are among a series of proposals given the go-ahead by Portsmouth city council.
The council approved proposals by the Homes and Communities Agency for 6,598 sq ft of commercial space, and 80 homes in Tipner.
In addition, the Tipner Regeneration Company secured permission for cleaning up the site around the former greyhound stadium, and the creation of 518 homes.
HCA development director Peter Cusdin said: “The hard work starts now and we will remain focused on putting in place the foundations that will allow this important regeneration project to progress.”
