Liverpool Stanley dock revamp wins consent

Liverpool council has granted consent to revised plans for the redevelopment of the city’s historic Stanley Dock.

Dublin-based Stanley Dock Properties, which is owned by Harcourt chairman Pat Doherty, plans to transform the 1m sq ft Grade II-listed Stanley Dock Tobacco Warehouse into 335 “live/work” units, plus 44,000 sq ft of offices, 10,000 sq ft of shops, 9,000 sq ft of bars and restaurants and 36,000 sq ft of public exhibition space.

The scheme is designed by Darmody Architects. Further planning applications for additional warehouses at the site will be submitted next year.

Planning consent for the revamp of the redundant wharf was achieved by Surrey-based Kitgrove in 2008. The original plans included 634 flats.
